Job Description
This post presents an exciting opportunity to join the R&I team as a Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse. This role forms a key role within the National Cancer imaging Translational Accelerator (NCITA) multi-institutional programme. The post will be based within the Christie R&I Division and will liaise with colleagues at partner institution sites (Cambridge, Imperial, ICR, KCL, Manchester, Oxford and UCL).
NCITA is a £10M Cancer Research UK (CRUK) project that addresses the gaps in translation of imaging biomarkers either as tools for clinical trials or to aid clinical decision making, by funding infrastructure. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting clinical studies where the research question focuses on imaging, or imaging is required to determine the primary end point. Central to this role is the responsibility of assessing and managing the care pathways for participants in research.
Main Duties
This role is being made available as a 2 year post in the first instance.
We are looking for a highly motivated nurse to join the team and support this exciting programme of work. The post holder will work collaboratively with a wider multi-disciplinary team of consultants, clinical research nurses and clinical trial administrators.
A background in oncology, flexibility in working, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of a defined group of clinical trials from set up to archiving and meeting agreed patient recruitment targets.
The post holder will also:
Ensure that all research undertaken within the department safeguards the well being of the patients
Ensure that research is conducted within requirements of a multi-regulated clinical research environment.
Facilitate the production of high quality research.
Raise the profile of the clinical research nurse and clinical trials
Demonstrate awareness and contribution to divisional, Trust and national objectives.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse -Currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
- First Degree or relevant clinical experience.
Desirable criteria
- Post-graduate qualification in oncology and/or clinical research
- GCP/ICH recognised recent training

- Experience of oncology nursing.
- Experience of working autonomously and as part of a Multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to demonstrate evidence of service improvement.

- Experience of working in a clinical research environment.
