Duties and Responsibilities

The post holder will support two large Cancer Research UK (CRUK) funded programmes, the National Cancer Imaging Translational Accelerator (NCITA) and the International Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED) both of which require a high volume of contracts to be drafted. This role would be responsible for providing expert support and advice on the contracting activities within NCITA and ACED, working in partnership with the UCLH/UCL Joint Research Office.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure the provision of legal advice to NCITA and ACED programmes. Review, draft and amend as required a wide range of agreements connected to funding, clinical trials and biomedical research carried out by NCITA and ACED, (under the broad guidance of the Deputy Director of Research) in accordance with UCL or Trust policy and professional standards.

This post is funded for one year in the first instance with the possibility of extension to December 2023.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrated experience of drafting, negotiating and concluding a wide range and high volume of research contracts, for industry, funders or in the Higher Education or Health sector. With up to date and in depth knowledge of the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations; GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation); Human Tissue Act; Law of confidence; Research Governance Framework and other relevant technical knowledge.

The ability to work effectively under pressure, taking ownership of tasks, managing and responding to shifting priorities, progressing numerous projects at any one time is critical.
