Summary of Role
The Division of Radiotherapy and Imaging is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic scientist/data manager to administer a linked suite of medical imaging databases and develop solutions to data curation issues. Data flows between the NHS and research institutions such as ICR are a key part of modern imaging studies, and this is a vital role where you will be involved in many exciting projects and will be the point of liaison between different scientific and medical teams.
As Image Repository Manager, you will oversee a set of 9 instances of the XNAT imaging database platform (www.xnat.org), together hosting data for over 300 academic projects. You will take day-to-day responsibility for managing access rights to the systems, implementing policies and helping researchers get their data smoothly from clinical scanner to research desktop. You will have a keen interest in information security, working with colleagues to anonymise and safeguard sensitive patient data, developing trust in our processes. You will develop your career and build a network of valuable research contacts throughout the UK and beyond, via our leading role in the NCITA consortium of advanced imaging research institutions.
The successful candidate should have a degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., computer science, physical sciences, maths, computational biology) with experience of engaging with scientific projects and the ability to understand and discuss them with researchers. Ideally, candidates will have previous knowledge of clinical trials, GCP and information governance (e.g., the concepts involved in GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act).
The Division of Radiotherapy and Imaging is investigating new imaging methods to diagnose cancer, and ways in which advances in technology and molecular biology can improve radiation treatment. Your colleagues in the MRI team will include world-leading clinical radiologists and specialists in imaging informatics, artificial intelligence, MRI physics and image analysis.
