Job Description
The Radiogenomics group within the University of Cambridge Department of Radiology is seeking a postdoctoral Research Associate (or an Assistant without a PhD but with a good relevant qualification) with experience in the application of computing techniques to medical images. This position is part of the Advanced Cancer Imaging programme, funded by Cancer Research UK, that seeks to introduce novel techniques for advanced cancer imaging. The successful candidate will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team and will focus on the application of machine learning and other AI and computing techniques to the analysis of cancer images acquired using a range of modalities including ultrasound, MR, CT and PET.
The post offers an opportunity for the development of medical image analysis skills, working in close collaboration with a multi-disciplinary group of researchers, particularly the the Computational Cancer Medicine lab in the Dept of Oncology, led by Dr Mireia Crispin-Ortuzar.
You will be given the opportunity to develop research projects, execute them and publish your results, with the support and collaboration of your colleagues. The department is situated within Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and has access to patient images from a wide variety of modalities. The main focus is on improving the application of computer science to cancer images, to improve treatments, measure their immediate effectiveness with the aim of personalising cancer treatment to make it more effective and less disruptive to patients’ lives.
Key Requirements
Candidates for appointment at Research Associate level will be expected to have a strong CV with a minimum of a PhD in a closely related field. Consideration will be given to an appointment at Assistant level for a good candidate without a PhD and it may be possible to study for a PhD whist working.
Fixed term: The funds for this post are available for a fixed term for one year in the first instance. Thereafter the role will be extended into the new five-year term of the CRUK Cancer Centre’s funding cycle provided that renewal is achieved and an extension may be available.
