Software Engineer

Salary Range: £44,737 to £52,764 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8.
Location: Division of Medicine – Department of Imaging, UCL
Hours: Full-time Fixed-Term Contract (post is funded until 31 March 2022 in the first instance)
Job Description
We are seeking a software engineer, with a degree in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics or a related subject and experience of analysing, researching and solving complex programming problems.
The role would be part of the Centre for Medical Imaging (CMI) team, funded by International Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED) and working closely with the National Cancer Imaging Translational Accelerator (NCITA) programme and the Research Software Development Group (RSDG).
The main duties and responsibilities of the role would be to develop new or enhanced application architectures or designs, constructing, improving and maintaining codes used by the ACED and NCITA research teams. It will also involve implementing, maintaining and supporting web-based data management systems for medical imaging and other research data. In particular, the management and further development of current platforms for data management based on XNAT (http://xnat.org).
This post is funded until 31 March 2022 in the first instance.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Candidates will have excellent software development skills, with strong experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, C++, Python and exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
The post holder should have software development skills, knowledge and experience of high-performance computing, good understanding of application development methodologies and infrastructure and network architecture is also essential.
